You are a 90’s kid when…

  1. You enjoyed playing Tex and Pog. Usually, the designs are of those of TV shows, drama or anime, some with dialogues. 
  2. You had bazooka (bubble gum)  comics. Even if you don’t understand the fortune cookie at the end, you still collect it.
  3. Sling shots were popular, the one made with a Y-shaped tree-branch.
  4. Girls play one-peso-paper-dolls per set at Sari-sari stores.
  5. If your a boy, you sure have a pellet gun.
  6. You ask 2 pesos from your parents to play video arcade on a Sari-sari store. Your favorites were Sonic, Mario and Street Fighter.
  7. You play Watusi every new year even if your mother scolds you.
  8. You have shoes that have lights on its soles if you step on it. More cooler if it has different colors.
  9. You have at least one Chicago Bulls shirt at home, usually with number 23.
  10. Your mother/maid often ask you to take a nap so you’ll grow big.
  11. Grown-ups often tells us that priest, rice or a train will come out of your wound if you will not put an alcohol on it, but in the end, just a dab of betadine will make you quiet.
  12. If your a girl, you had butterfly hairclips and rings.
  13. If your family is somewhat rich, you had Poly Pocket.
  14. You placed “Kisses” (the fragrant, grainlike, rubber or plastic whatever) on your pencil case, or in a container with alcohol and prick it with a needle so that it will have babies.
  15. You had Disney movie stickers that you can get inside Maggi nooodles.
  16. You make clacking sound with the cap of Gatorade.
  17. Stationaries that were in are Papemelroti, Tsukuba, Sashikibuts. You can either sell it or just trade it.
  18. Your pastime was playing with Brick game, anf your lucky if you have an advanced version where the blocks pass through other bricks to fill up the gaps in the middle. Your more advanced if you play Tamagotchi. You feed it , you make it sleep and bury it if it’s dead. And if you really can afford it, you have Game boy. But if you really have none, you just have the toy that has water inside and you have to shoot the rings inside the little stick.
  19. Before the classes start, you play 10-20, jackstone, Langit lupa, Ice water, Taguan , Dr. Quack Quack, Tumbang Preso, Pepsi Seven Up and Agawan Base. Never mind if your uniform gets dirty when you go to class.
  20. You know what “Time First”, “Viva!”, “Balagoong” and “Burot”  mean.
  21. You know the song “Uwian na!”
  22. You always tell your classmates that “Liars go to hell” when you think that he tells lies. “Cross my heat, hope to die” when you promise. “Period, No Erase” when you want no  one to go against what you said. But you can’t say anything anymore when your classmate said “Akin ‘yong factory nang pambura”. Another version is “Period, Kandado Susi”
  23. You were cool in class when you have pencil case that opens in both sides and with many attachments like magnifying lens, book stand, little compartments that opens with buttons. Sometimes, the top of the pencil case has a maze, it has a tiny silver ball and you have to turn the pencil case to its side son that the ball can roll until you finish the maze.
  24. You put Roller coaster, Cheese rings or Pritos rings on every finger of your hand.
  25. You were not baduy (tacky) if your notebook in elementary have a face of a celebrity.
  26. You placed your water in a Coleman at school.
  27. You asked your parents to buy Baby-G for you,
  28. Your in elementary when pager is in. That’s what the kids were wishing to have, not cell phone.
  29. You still have the biggest cell phone that is hidden now in a box.
  30. There’s no PS/PS2. Xbox, Wii …  Just Family computer, and it uses cartridges. The games that were popular were Mario Brothers, Battle City and Rambo.
  31. You had one of these: Family Computer, Nintendo, Sega, roller blades, brick game, Tamagotchi, Swatch Watch with matching guard, Troll Collection.
  32. You know the the song with the lines: “Natatawa ako hihihihi, “Anong Paki mo sa long hair ko”, Dahil sa bawal na gamot”, “Mga kababayan ko, bilib ako sa kulay ko”.
  33. One of these are your theme song: “I Swear” by All 4 One. “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes (And I say Hey, ey, ey, ey, ey, ey. I said hey, What’s going on!), “Zombie” by Cranberries.

  35. You know the songs of Spice Girls and you have your own favourite Spice. I really are a fan, you even have a poster.
  36. You became a fanatic of one of the boy bands that had been popular.
  37. You always hear on the radio the songs of bands like Eraserheads, Parokya ni Edgar while they’re still on skirts, Alamid, Rivermaya, True Faith, The Youth, Afterimage and whatever Pinoy Bands.
  38. Cassette tapes are still popular, not CD of MP3 players. If you like the song, you estimate how many seconds you need to rewind it so that it will be faster for you to listen it over and over.
  39. You know the song “Heal the world”, “Tell the world of his love”, Jubilee Song”, etc at school.
  40. You watched Power Rangers, Captain Planet or Ninja Turtles. You and your friends imitate them until you kick yourselves.
  41. You will not be scolded by your parents if what you’re watching on TV is Hirayamanawari, Bayani, and Sine Skwela, where you can know Teacher Waki, Ugat Puno, Palikpik and the whole gang while they ride on their space ship or a flying jeepney.
  42. You watched Ghost Fighter and Dragon Ball. Eugene and Goku are your favorites.
  43. You play with Voltes V’s themes because you don’t understand it: “Tato ni Ara Mina Malaking Cobra… Voltes Five lima sila, pumunta sa kubeta… Contra Bulate!”
  44. You also watched other animes like Shaider, Sailormoon, Daimos, Mask Raider, and Maskman.
  45. You followed the series Sarah ang Munting Prinsesa, Julio at Julia at Cedi.  You also had watched the movie version of Sarah at Munting Prinsesa with Camille Prats and Angelica Panganiban.
  46. You know the tune of the song popularized by the children’s show “ATBP” : Isa.. dalawa-tatlo.. apat-lima.. anim-pito-walo.. syam-sampu… labingisa-labingdalawa… labingtatlo… labingapat-labinglima…
  47. You had watched Batang X.
  48. You and your maid had watched Marimar together.

  50. You were mad at Clara because she was so mean and cruel to Mara.

  55. You know tha Eat Bulaga at ang Mel and Jay were once on ABS-CBN.
  56. You saw in the news that there are cults hiding in the cave because the world will come to its end in year 2000, and all the computers will suddenly shutdown and technology will be lost.
  57. Chinese variety shows were the programs during Sunday mornings.
  58. You are brave if you can watch Shake, Rattle and Roll movies, or the All Saints Day Feature of Magandang Gabi Bayan of Noli de Castro which airs on Saturdays.
  59. You heard the announcement of the death of Princess Diana on the  radio. Then all of a sudden, Elton John’s  ”Goodbye, England’s Rose.” is so popular..
  60. Movies that you watch at home are still in VHS.
  61. If  your a girl, you once had a crush on Leonardo di Caprio because of Titanic. But you are not allowed to watch the kissing scenes of Jack and Rose.
